1921 ~ KLEINKNECHT ~ 2016

Vera Jewel Kleinknecht of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Otto Kleinknecht, passed away on Monday, February 1st, 2016 at the age of 94 years. Vera leaves to cherish her memory her one daughter, Shirley McSweeny; three grandsons, Steve, Sean (Lynette), and Mike Jr. (Lisa); seven great-grandchildren, Steve, Kayla, Stephanie, Mathew, Jayne, Calvin, and Christina; numerous brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews. Vera was predeceased by her husband, Otto; her parents; and her son-in-law, Michael McSweeny. A private family time of remembrance will be held. FELIX LUTZ

February 5, 1933 ~ February 1, 2016

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Felix Lutz, beloved husband of Thelma Lutz, announce his passing at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Monday, February 1, 2016, at the age of 82 years. He was born and raised in Prelate, SK., where he went to school up to the eighth grade. Felix married the love of his life, Thelma Heine on February 25, 1961, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Medicine Hat. He was a dedicated employee with the Medicine Hat Fire Department as a Firefighter, retiring after 31 years of service as a Lieutenant. Felix was a compassionate, kind and caring friend and family man. His family was always his first priority being the best husband, father and grandpa he could be. Family vacations and gatherings were important to Felix as well as his bowling league, watching hockey, curling and football on TV and gardening… keeping the deer out of the garden was his mission! He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and enjoyed his time during various activities there. Felix will be lovingly remembered by his dear wife, Thelma; children, Pam (Martin) Crook and their children Stephanie, Samantha (Bradyn); Darcy (Talya) Lutz; Karen Lutz; siblings, Irene (Clifford) Beisel, Bernice Bleile, Violet Milbrandt; brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Shirley Heine as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Felix was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Mary; brother, Richard; in-laws, Rudolph and Rose Heine; sister-in-law, Margaret (Armin) Rehbein and brother-in-law, Fred Bleile. LORAINE HART-TONGS

July 14, 1960 ~ January 29, 2016

Loraine Norma Hart-Tongs, beloved wife of David Arthur Tongs, passed away peacefully at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Friday, January 29, 2016, at the age of 55 years. She was born in Eastend, SK., and raised on the family farm north of Ravenscrag, SK. Loraine graduated from Eastend High School and furthered her education studying as a Health Care Aid at SIAST and received her RNBN at Medicine Hat College and University of Calgary, completing her COHN through Grant McEwan College. She was extremely proud of her continued education efforts and achieved more than she ever thought possible. She married the love of her life and soul mate, David Tongs on September 22, 2007. Loraine’s faith life and spiritual connection with founded in the United Church in Shaunavon, SK. Her nursing career began in the hospital then continued into long term care facilities. With her background and knowledge, she taught first year nursing students at the Medicine Hat College for a number of years. Loraine then accepted a position with the City of Medicine Hat as an Occupational Health Nurse where she continued her studies and received her COHN designation, while continuing to work for the City until her passing. Loraine enjoyed doing crafts, sewing, gardening and reading and most recently spending time with family and being a very active grandma. She loved her family and raising her kids along and was always involved with helping the parent teacher association and hot lunch meals for school, as well as being a Girl Guide leader, Pathfinder leader and a Sunday school parent teacher. Some of Loraine’s most memorable moments, were the birth of her children and watching them grow up, time spent with family and friends, finding her soul mate in Davey and the vacation with Mariann and Mike in Hawaii. The challenges in Loraine’s life were many, but through her perseverance and putting the pieces together, she accepted it as an opportunity to learn and create stepping stones to improve her knowledge. Loraine’s memory will be forever treasured in the hearts of her true love in her husband, Davey; children, Graham Hart and his children, Camille, Veronica, Presley; Christie (Jason) Lewis and their children, Kinley, Nixen and a little one on the way; Ron (Monica) Hart and their children, Rae, Parker, Vincent; sister, Mariann (Michael) Johnston and her nephew, Jesse (Vanessa) as well as all the extended family in the UK. She was predeceased by her parents, Eugene and Norma Olson (nee Studer) as well as grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Loraine’s Life will be celebrated at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Friday, February 5, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. with Life Celebrant Gerry Getz and Pastor Bob Findley co-officiating. STANLEY BRUCE LONG

1917 ~ 2016
Stanley Bruce Long passed away peacefully at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at the age of 98 years. Stan was a life long resident of Medicine Hat. His career with the CPR spanned 43 years. He was an active member of the Connaught Golf Course for 76 years. Golf was his passion and he freely shared his knowledge of golf with others wanting to learn the game. Stan was pre- deceased by his wife, Edna; twin brother, Sydney; brothers, Fred and Douglas as well as sisters, Mary and June. He is survived by sons, Fred and Ken and their families. It was Stan’s wish that his life be remembered without the proceedings of a formal service.
