Francis “Frank” Heward of Medicine Hat, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, December 6th, 2014 at the age of 71 years. Frank’s Life Celebration was held yesterday at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL with Gary W. Goran officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Frank’s memory may be made to the CORE Association or to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Gordon Kappeler of Medicine Hat, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2014, at the age of 69 years. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Friday, December 19, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Borrows officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. Leo Merlin Pugsley passed away on Friday, December 12, 2014, at the age of 74 years, beloved husband of Ethel Pugsley of Cypress County. He also leaves to cherish his memory one daughter Shez (Jerry) Hento of Medicine Hat; five step-children, David (Connie) Hubley of Suffield, Steven (Margaret) Hubley of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Allison (Wayne) Prince of London, Ontario, Robert (Pam) Hubley of Abbotsford, B.C. and James (Karmelle) Waller of Medicine Hat; fourteen grandchildren, Ryan, Terresena, Dannielle, A.J., Natasha, Devon, Lucas, Travis, Tyler, Cameron, Michael, Brittany and Clinton; five great grandchildren, Katie, Emma, Mercedes, Bentley and Drake; two sisters, Irene Stewart of Hamilton, Ontario and Linda Ward of Vienna, Ontario as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Leo was predeceased by his two brothers, Emery and John and one sister, Noreen. On January 26, 1940 Leo was born to Merle and Roderick Puglsey on a farm in the Houghten Township in Ontario. He attended Annadale High School in Tillsonburg, Ontario where he received a silver medal for Cross Country running five years in a row. That record has never been broken. On October 19, 1974 he married Ethel in Russell, Manitoba. For the past 25 years he was a Chef at C.F.B. Suffield where he was privileged to cook for the Duke and Duchess of York, the Princess of Thailand and the head of NATO. Throughout the years he was involved as a Scout and Venturer Leader. Leo loved the outdoors and in his early years attended Forestry College – he loved the bush. He was also a member of the Horticultural Society and was the first person in Medicine Hat to have raised gardens. A private time of remembrance will be held for Leo in January. Mr. William Gorzo passed away peacefully at the Riverview Care Centre on Sunday, December 14, 2014, at the age of 88 years. He is survived by his three children, Clifford, Edith and Steven Gorzo.
