.1919 ~ SCHMALTZ ~ 2014
Frank Schmaltz, beloved husband of Emily Schmaltz of Medicine Hat, passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday, September 17th, 2014 at the age of 94 years. Frank also leaves to cherish his memory his children, Raymond (Gail), Patricia (Bill) Thomson, Cecil (Betty), Donna (Jim) Siroski, Sandra (Lorne) Zentner, Gerard, Cyndy (Darren) Lutz and Gary (Tammie); his grandchildren, Joel, Michael, Tim, Sheri, Lori, Annette, Cory, Jason, Stacey, Brett, Kent, Kristine, Lauren and Jordan; twenty-six great grandchildren; two brothers, Adam (Loretta) and Richard (Susan); three sisters, Rose Mulhall, Anne Barker, and Eva Sutherland; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Frank was predeceased by his parents, Ludwig and Florentina Schmaltz; one son, Donald Gene Schmaltz; one daughter, Theresa “Terry” Pearl Schmaltz; two brothers, Jack (Lucille) and Louis (Barbara); three brothers-in-law, Joe Mulhall, Milt Barker and Barney O’Reilly. Frank was born and raised on the family farm near Prelate until they relocated to Glidden, SK in 1934. In 1939, he started his career with the PFRA. In 1941, he joined the Armed Forces and later that year he received an Honorable Discharge. Frank married Emily Mastel on June 2nd, 1942 in Josephstal Church in the Mendham, SK district. They farmed for six years until 1953 when Frank returned to the PFRA, working in various pastures throughout Saskatchewan. December 1979 marked his retirement at Davidson, SK at which time they moved to Medicine Hat and remained here until the time of his passing. After his retirement, Frank was employed as Commissionaire at Suffield for six months. He enjoyed horses, woodworking, ushering at the church, and his position as Guard for the Knights of Columbus. Frank spent the last five years in the Sunnyside Nursing Home and the family is extremely grateful to the staff for the excellent care he received. Vigil Rites (Prayers) will be said at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Sunday, September 21st, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at HOLY FAMILY PARISH, 1451 Strachan Road SE, on Monday, September 22nd, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with Father Philip Le, celebrant. Our Mom, Thelma Marie Lorentzon went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, September 14th, 2014 surrounded by the love of her four children. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Fred Lorentzon in July 2007. Over the past two months since her diagnosis of pancreatic cancer, Mom continued to show us a life full of courage, humour, grace and dignity. Her memory will be cherished by son, Wade Lorentzon; daughters, Lori (Neil) Bonesky, Jolene (Andrew) Au Coin and Mavis (Ron) Sautner. Thelma is also adored by her precious grandchildren and great- grandchildren, Jordan and Jami Lorentzon, Brady and Lena (Ida and Mila) Lorentzon, Cameron and Amanda (Rowan and Flint) Lorentzon, Brennan and Lori (Cohen, Cara and Caleb) Bonesky, Amber and Jesse (Makala and Olivia) Wideman, Chelsey (Jesse Frey) Au Coin, Logan Au Coin, Zac Sautner and Tanner Sautner. Mom came from a large and loving family, one of eight siblings and their families, who will all miss her dearly. Friends meant the world to our mama, and she gave her love freely to each one of them. .Last week Monday marked a special time as family and close friends privately celebrated the life of Irene Greenstein. Life Celebrant Getz led the ceremony in honour of her life..a heartwarming tribute by Elizabeth, reflected Irene’s life and portrayed how loved and respected she was by her family and friends…snapshots of memories – old and new, offered a glimpse into her life and captured the essence of what made her such a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother… Irene was carried by her grandsons, Leighton, Nicholas and Zachary to her final place of rest at Hillside Cemetery, where she was eternally reunited with her husband, Louis.

1947 ~ 2014
Hazel Mae Pederson, beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, left us unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at the age of 67 years. Left to cherish Hazel’s memory is her beloved mother, Beatrice Pederson; son, Brian Larkin; granddaughter, Elissa Larkin; brothers, Arnold, Leonard and Brian; sisters, Miriam Herman, Anita (Garry) Runions and Bernice (Cory) Fode, as well as numerous nephews, nieces and friends. Hazel was born on April 28, 1947 in Rocky Mountain House. Throughout the years, she resided in many different communities before making Medicine Hat her home. Hazel worked for Canada Post for 25 years and in her retirement years, she enjoyed painting, drawing, playing piano and watching old movies. Hazel was very involved in her church and was always praying for people – even those she never knew. She loved much and will be missed until we meet again! Jack Robert Seefried of Medicine Hat passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at the age of 78 years. He leaves to cherish his memory five brothers, Harold (Doris), Chris, Fred (Naudia), Ralph and Walter all of Medicine Hat; one sister Alvina Stabler of Redcliff as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Beata and Robert Seefried; two brothers, Carl Seefried in infancy, Jim Seefried as a young boy; one sister Helen Yanke; sisters-in-law, Betty Seefried, Shirley Seefried, Bonnie Seefried and one brother-in-law, Jim Stabler. Jack was born on November 29, 1935 at Orion and was raised on the family farm northeast of Orion. In his adult years he worked for various farmers, for the Alberta Wheat Pool building grain elevators, then at the feed lot in Bassano and finally building pallets in Dunmore. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and playing his guitar. A graveside funeral service will be held in the Hillside Cemetery on Monday, September 22, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend.
