.1922 ~ RESSLER ~ 2014
Barbara Ressler of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late George Ressler, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, September 12th, 2014 at the age of 91 years. Barbara leaves to cherish her memory her children, Wayne (Addie) Ressler of Airdrie and Rochelle (Bill) Duncan of Redcliff; six grandchildren, Denise (Russ) Smith, Alison (Darren) Jacques, Jessica (Brad) Gray, Dustin (Jeanine) Ressler, Kristopher Duncan and Mathew Duncan; seven great- grandchildren; and her sister, Betty Ressler of Brooks. Barbara was predeceased by her husband, George in 1974; and her son, Robert Francis in 1991. Barbara was born in the Mendham area on October 13th, 1922. In 1941, Barbara graduated teacher training in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan — marking the beginning of a successful 40-year teaching career. Barbara’s teaching career spanned several provinces including BC, Saskatchewan and Alberta, where she retired in 1982 from Margaret Wooding Elementary in Redcliff. Barbara met George while beginning her teaching career in Saskatchewan and the two later married in Vancouver in 1944. Barbara and George returned to Saskatchewan where George started a welding business and Barbara returned to teaching. There, they started a family with their two sons, before finally settling in Redcliff where their youngest daughter was born. Barbara was proud to call Redcliff home for over 30 years, where she lived until 2007. When not inspiring young children to learn and develop, Barbara kept busy traveling, gardening, bowling, spending time with her family, watching curling and her beloved Toronto Blue Jays, and challenging herself with her favourite daily crossword puzzle. Barbara will be fondly remembered by all who knew her as a kind, patient and committed mother, grandmother, teacher and friend. Everywhere she went, Barbara was approached by former students with fond memories of being in “Mrs. Ressler’s” Grade One Class. Her passion for educating young minds carried with her throughout her life. When Barbara retired from 40 years of teaching, she stated “Ours is a world in which we select the path we wish to follow in life. Once that decision is made, do your best. In choosing a primary career I have been privileged to enjoy the many rewarding years involved in the training and development of those hundreds of little people in Grade One who were mine for one of the most important years of their lives.” Vigil Rites (Prayers) will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Tuesday, September 16th, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. Loring Adolph Piehl, beloved husband of Edna Piehl of Medicine Hat, passed away on Saturday, September 13th, 2014 at the age of 90 years. Loring also leaves to cherish his memory his children, Darrell Piehl (Betty Carbert), Brenda Piehl and Loreen Piehl-Wiedemann (Barry Wiedemann); six grandchildren, Lloyd Piehl, Sarah Piehl, Jennifer (Ryan) Matt, Loring Wiedemann, Victor Wiedemann, Rachel Wiedemann; one great grandchild, Roan; one brother-in-law, Gordon (Anna) Brown; special friends, Debbie Ross and Leila Wright; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Rose Fauth of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Alexander Fauth, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Sunday, September 14th, 2014 at the age of 89 years. She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Jeanette (Jerry) Koch of Medicine Hat; five sons, Ron (Terry) of Calgary, Henry (Louise) of Saint John, New Brunswick, Len (Irene) of Medicine Hat, Rick (Carol) of Burstall, Saskatchewan and Joe (Paula) of Coleville, Saskatchewan; 13 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one brother, Phillip (Mona) Baron; and sisters-in-law, Mina and Jane Baron. Rose was predeceased by her husband, Alex Fauth; her parents, Valentine and Monica Baron; two sisters, Tillie (John) and Monica; five brothers, Ralph (Mary), Ludwig (Aggie), Matt, Joe and John (Rose). Rose was born in Leader, Saskatchewan in December 14th, 1924. She attended Monmouth Country School. Rose married Alex January 1947 and together they raised six children. They farmed in the Burstall, Saskatchewan area, then moved to Hilda, Alberta and later to Richmound, Saskatchewan to farm. In 1967 they moved to Valjean, Saskatchewan where Alex bought grain for NM Patterson and Sons. They moved back to Burstall in 1971 where they farmed, Alex bought grain and they became the custodians for the Burstall School. Alex and Rose retired in 1985 and moved to Medicine Hat. Edmund Tschritter, beloved husband of Violet Tschritter of Medicine Hat, passed away on Sunday, September 14th, 2014 at the age of 81 years. Edmund also leaves to cherish his memory his son, Alan (Cathy) Tschritter of Medicine Hat; daughter-in-law, Cathy (Mark) Hartwig of Medicine Hat; one grandson, Michael Tschritter; one brother, Otto Tschritter of Medicine Hat; one sister, Ida Weiland of Medicine Hat; brothers-in-law, Clarence (Marlene) Roth and Norman (Marie) Roth; sisters-in-law, Emma Tschritter, Jane (Ralph) Grubel and Rachel Wirsch; as well numerous nieces and nephews. Edmund was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Augustina Tschritter; and one son, Eugene Tschritter. Edmund was a salesperson for Electrolux for many years. He loved meeting and helping new people, especially the elderly. The sudden passing of Delbert “Del” A. Engel deeply saddens family and friends. Del was the beloved husband of Doris Engel of Medicine Hat and passed away on Thursday, September 11th, 2014 at the age of 70 years. Del also leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Jason and Morgan (Aleicha); his grandchildren, Austin, Jaxson, Arreanna (Cody), and Sierra; one great-grandchild, Kaiden; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Raine and Erna Sulz; as well as niece and nephew, Susan and Quintin. Del was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Melida; and his brother-in-law, Eddie Sulz. Del was owner of Dell Rossi Men’s Wear for 43 years and was an active member of the community. He was a member of the Kinsmen, Moose Lodge, and Royal Canadian Legion. Del loved farming and caring for his animals and was always willing to help someone in need. In his free time, Del loved fishing, scuba diving, hunting and trips to the coast. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him. Emil Kuntz, beloved husband of Elsie Kuntz, passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Monday, September 15, 2014, at the age of 92 years. Emil was born on May 3, 1922 in Richmound, Saskatchewan and this is also where he was raised and grew up. Emil was a man of great character and wore many different hats throughout the years, however, he worked as a trucker for most of his life. He enjoyed the outdoors and liked to go camping, fishing, playing cribbage and loved doing wonderword puzzles. Emil will be deeply missed by his wife Elsie; two daughters: Brenda (Arnold) Martinson and their two children, Jessica and Graydon (Kristina) and their son, Gage; and Sherry (Tony) Morrison as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Margaretta Kuntz and eleven siblings. James “Jim” Robert Wilton, beloved husband of Carol Wilton, passed away peacefully at the age of 71 on Thursday September 11th, 2014 at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. Jim was born in Edmonton, Alberta on April 21st, 1943 to Herman and Leta Wilton. In May 1965, Jim began his career with Calgary Power, later to become TransAlta Utilities, where he worked for 33 1/2 years. In 1969, Jim and Carol lived in Picture Butte, Alberta for 20 years and raised their family. They moved to Lethbridge, Alberta in 1989. Jim retired from TransAlta Utilities in 1998. They moved to Medicine Hat in 2000 where they most recently lived in Chinook Village. Jim is predeceased by his mother, Leta; father, Herman; Carol’s parents, Louis and Melanie Klovansky; and his infant son, David. He leaves behind his wife, Carol; sons, Dan (Ketha) Wilton and Rob (Lori) Wilton; his granddaughters, Jessica and Melanie Wilton; his brothers, Richard (Cheryl) Wilton and Russel (Inga) Wilton; his sisters, Susan (Garth) Graham; and Almeta (Wayne) Mathews; brother-in-law, Mirk Klovansky; as well as many nieces and nephews. Jim will be remembered for his skill as a wood craftsman, his ability to fix anything, and his love of the outdoors; especially fishing. .PEARL RODERMOND
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Pearl Rodermond who went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital with her family by her side.
Pearl was born April 16, 1925 in Gieten, Holland to Arend and Henrietta Aasman.
She immigrated to Canada in 1953. She married James (Jim) Rodermond August 9, 1954. They lived and farmed in Medicine Hat, Alberta where their three children were born. Janet in 1955, Ernie in 1957 and Michael in 1961. Then Jim, Pearl and family moved to Leslieville, Alberta in 1965 where she lived until her passing.
Pearl enjoyed having her family home for special occasions, she liked to do traditional cooking and baking mixed in with some Dutch traditions, which we all enjoyed very much. She loved her beautiful yard and enjoyed her flowers, always having fresh flowers on the table. Pearl and Jim enjoyed travelling the world and went on many vacations with friends or family or both. They also enjoyed their snow birding experience to the States for 20 plus years. On August 9th 2014 Pearl and Jim celebrated their 60th Anniversary. Sharing this day with her family was a momentous occasion for her.
Pearl is survived by her husband of 60 years James Rodermond, her daughter Janet (Brian) and grandchildren Katrina, James and Jessica of Medicine Hat, her son Ernie (Judy) of Leslieville; her sisters; Jeanette (Luke) Brouwer of Lethbridge, Betty (Homer) Oudman of Taber, Jean (John) Brouwer of Rocky Mountain House, and Elly Wenzel of Medicine Hat; her brothers Robert (Nell) Aasman of Rocky Mountain House, Hank (Gerda) Aasman of Medicine Hat and Bill Aasman of Medicine Hat; sisters-in-Law, Ina (C) Aasman, Ina (J) Aasman and Mary (Jim) Reaves of Kelowna; brothers-in-law, Henk (Aavina) Rodermond of Medicine Hat, Mark (Ann) Rodermond of Medicine Hat and Bill (Jane) Navis of Sherwood Park.
She was predeceased by her son Albert Michael in 2004; her parents Arend and Henrietta Aasman, her brothers Casey, Johnny, James and Mark Aasman as well as brothers-in-law Rueben Wenzel and Fred Rodermond and sisters-in-law Jackie Aasman, Tina Aasman and Alice Navis.
A Funeral Service will be held at The First Christian Reformed Church, Rocky Mountain House, on Saturday September 20, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. Following a private family interment at the Leslieville Cemetery , friends are cordially invited to join the family for a time of fellowship and refreshments at the Leslieville Community Center.
As an expression of sympathy memorial donations, in memory of Pearl, may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta or the First Christian Reformed Church Memorial Fund.
