.1919 ~ OAKES ~ 2014
We are sad to announce the passing of Emma Oakes on July 16th, 2014. She is now with our HeavenlyFather. Emma will be missed by family and friends. She would have been 95 years of age on August 13th. She will be remembered as a happy personwho enjoyed being around people, laughing and enjoying each day. Emma is survived by a brother and sister, as well as nieces and nephews. Emma was born in Richmond, Saskatchewan on a ranch, loved animals and, for most of her life, loved to dress up and be a socialite even on the ranch.

.1955 ~ HART ~ 2014
The family of Donald F. Hart Jr. are very saddened to announce his passing on July 20th, 2014, in Medicine Hat, Alberta, at the age of 59 years after a tough battle with cancer. Don leaves behind his loving wife, Elisabeth; his three children, Maggie, Justin, and Lori; his parents, Donald Sr. and Frances Hart; his sisters, Lynn (George) Myette and Peggy (Larry) Schlenker; his brother-in-law, Bob Senekowitsch; his niece, Jenny (Dale) Howe; his nephews, Brad Schlenker and Jason VanBuskirk; as well as many treasured aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Don was predeceased by his grandparents, Walter and Hilda Hutchison, Jack and Opal Hart; and his nephew, Boyd Schlenker. Don Hart Jr. was born on May 18th, 1955, into a third generation ranching family Northeast of Medicine Hat. He later took over the family ranch raising purebred Hereford cattle and was a member of the Medicine Hat Stampede Board, Drowning Ford Grazing Association, and Southern Alberta Purebred Beef Breeders Association. Don enjoyed 4-H for many years as a beef member in his youth as well as a leader and active 4-H parent later in his life. Don loved working with cattle but he also took advantage of his analytical mind by taking Business at the University of Lethbridge and working for several local businesses. Don enjoyed photography, computers, going out for lunch with friends, and travelling, and his trip to Australia and New Zealand was one that he cherished forever. Don spent countless hours with his family watching hockey, going riding, puttering around the yard, and sitting on the porch drinking coffee. Don loved his family very much and his world revolved around spending time with them. He will be dearly missed by all of his family, relatives, and friends. The Funeral Service will be held at Glenview Church of the Nazarene, 4072 Strachan Road SE, on Friday, July 25th, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Barrett Scheske officiating. .ADAM MICHAEL ELLIOTT

September 30, 1981 ~ July 21, 2014

It is with the deepest of sadness and heartache that Dale and Meryle Elliott of Seven Persons announce the passing of their youngest son, Adam Elliott of Medicine Hat on July 21, 2014, at 32 years of age. Along with his parents, Adam is survived by his only brother, Rob Elliott of New Zealand; his son, Hunter Elliott-Mingo and his fiancée, Katrina Barron both of Medicine Hat; grandparents, Lloyd and Bev Elliott of Mitchell, Ontario; grandmother, Doris Connell of Medicine Hat and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that loved him. He was predeceased by his grandfather, Geo Connell of Medicine Hat and his uncle, Lorne Knutson of Iddesleigh. Adam was raised and attended school in Seven Persons, later attending Medicine Hat High School. While there, he excelled in the Mechanics program where he competed in the AMA Car Care Challenge. He then moved on to the Medicine Hat College where he earned his Journeyman Mechanic Certification. Adam worked for Rodeo Ford in Medicine Hat for 12 years before taking a position with Weatherford where he was employed at the time of his passing. Adam was a devoted father, fiancé, an avid hunter and was just beginning to look forward to camping and exploring the outdoors with his family. Most of all, Adam was a loving son, brother, father, family man and friend that would help anytime he was asked and always offered a helping hand where he could. His unexpected passing will never be understood, but hopefully in time the pain in our hearts will become bareable. Adam will be missed by all that knew and loved him, but mostly by his friends and loving family.

A Celebration honouring Adam’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Thursday, July 31, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Len Barkman and Pastor Maury McNeil officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery with a luncheon and time of fellowship thereafter in the Cook Southland Reception Center. 1937 ~ 2014
Mrs. Gail Elaine Clarke (nee McLean), wife of the late Mr. Arthur Clarke, passed away peacefully while at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at the age of 76 years. Gail was born in Winnipeg, MB., the eldest of two daughters to Colin and ?Madeline McLean. She completed her schooling in Winnipeg and married Art in 1962, sharing 24 years of marriage before his untimely passing in 1986. She was proud of the fact that she was the first woman to graduate in an all male dominated accounting class. She believed she helped break through that stereotypical world. Gail worked for many years as an Accounting Technician until her retirement. Her generous nature was always at the forefront of her volunteering within the community and Gail was a huge supporter of the Arts in Medicine Hat and believed the Esplanade had the best acoustics anywhere… she loved live theatre. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and was fond of helping with the festivities surrounding Canada Day. Gail will be forever remembered in the hearts of her three daughters, Meredith, Jocelyn and Erin; her grandchildren, Lucas and Sophie; nieces and nephews, Sandy, Frank, Alana, Heather and her grand-niece, Laura. She was predeceased by her husband, Art; parents, Colin and?Madeline as well as one sister, Sandra. The family wish to thank Dr. Glas, Dr. Monte and the staff of Health Worx and Drs. Foley, Trudeau, North and staff at the Margery E. Yuill Cancer Centre for all their care and attention to Gail. .HELEN ‘MURIEL’ RONNES
October 16, 1927 – July 21, 2014
Muriel Ronnes of Medicine Hat passed away Monday, July 21, 2014, at the age of 86 years, beloved wife of the late Russell Ronnes. She leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Shirley (Ross) Zuehlke of Vulcan; niece Diane Cannon of Los Angeles; nephew, Robert Klien and his wife Judith Horton (her main care giver and friend) of Medicine Hat; sister-in-law, Alma Brown of Redcliff; niece, Barb (Wayne) Ramsay of Medicine Hat; nephew, Greg (Trish) Brown of Calgary also numerous other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Tom and Helen Brown; sister, Doreen Dorohoy; brother, Robert Brown, and husband, Russell Ronnes.
Muriel started working in ladies ready to wear as a teenager in Eaton’s and eventually started her own dress shop, Joy’s Styles which was located on 3rd Street downtown. Joy’s Styles became ‘THE’place for ladies to shop for many, many years. She was a very successful business person.
Talented in business and so many other endeavors. Sewing, needle work, crocheting, knitting, hardanger embroider to name a few of her many ventures. Whatever project she did, she did well. You were a very lucky person if you received one of Muriel’s accomplishments.
Muriel married the love of her life Russell Ronnes in 1949. In 1951, they leased land at Elkwater and hand built a log cabin with the help of many friends and family. Every log was cut locally and hauled by mules to the cabin site. They loved to entertain, lots of good memories were made at that cabin.
Muriel was the treasurer and was instumental in organizing the history book ‘Cypress Hills Country’. Muriel’s family has a long history in the Cypress Hills. Her Grandfather, Lancelot Charles Brown started the L.C. Ranch in the 1880’s that is still owned and operated by the family.
Muriel and Russ moved to Meadowland’s Lodge in 2007. It was a good move for both of them. Russ passed away in January of 2009 and Muriel’s spirit was never the same again. She did appreciate the company of the other residents and enjoyed activities, especially playing cards with her friend Viola Beres. Unfortunately, over the past couple of years, Muriel developed dementia and it was increasingly hard for her to participate.
Muriel had a wonderful strength of character. She was honest and forth right in everything she did.
The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Canon R. Ivor Ottrey officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. Gregory “Greg” Edward Rath of Medicine Hat passed away on Monday, July 21, 2014, at the age of 59 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Tammy Street of Unity, Susanne (Bryce) Jensen of Two Hills and Jennifer Rath of Blackfalds; his parents, Edward and Doreen Rath of Elkwater; three grandchildren, Trista, Taelyn and Zoey; two brothers, Kelvin Rath and Keith Rath (fiancé Christie Radke) as well as nieces and nephews, Trisha and Clayton, and Ryan and Amanda. He was predeceased by one brother, Terry Rath in 1959. Greg was born in Medicine Hat on October 21, 1954. He was raised on the ranch north of Elkwater and worked there until he started his own family and ranch a few miles away, also working as a heavy equipment operator for the Department of Highways, Cypress County and various earthmoving companies.
