.1921 ~ DUCHSCHERER ~ 2014
Henry Duchscherer, beloved husband of Rose Duchscherer of Medicine Hat, passed away on Tuesday, April 15th, 2014 at the age of 92 years. Henry also leaves to cherish his memory five children, Marlene (Joe) Kurtz, Ron (Marlene), Ivan (Annalisa), Carol (Gary) Kavanaugh, and Joann Scory (Tim Eichorn), and their families. Vigil Rites (prayers) will be said at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Monday, April 21st, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated in HOLY FAMILY PARISH, 1451 Strachan Road SE, on Tuesday, April 22nd, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. with Father Philip Le, celebrant. .BRAND
Richard Dennis Brand of Tilley, beloved husband of the late Helen Brand, passed away in the Brooks Health Centre on Friday, April 11th, 2014 at the age of 79 years. Dennis was born in Moose Jaw, Sask. on November 11th, 1934 and moved to Scandia, AB. as a teenager, where he met and courted his future wife Norma Helen Murray. Dennis and Helen were married on June 16th, 1954. Dennis was employed by Schneider’s Trucking in the 1950’s and the EID in the 60’s and 70’s. Dennis and Helen went into business for themselves at that time, first owning and operating Brand’s Coffee Shop in Tilley and then Tilley Garage Services for several years before selling out, at which time they both went to work for Hatco Oilfield Services also in Tilley. Sadly, Dennis was predeceased by Helen in 1988, at the young age of 50 years. For several years thereafter, until he was no longer physically able, Dennis worked as a ranch hand for Donny and Cindy Wolfer of Tilley. He was predeceased by not only his wife Helen, but mother Clarice Hill Drake, father Richard Charles Brand and sister Delores Murrell. Dennis is survived by two daughters, Loralee (Kevin) Moore of Medicine Hat and Janice (Tom) McDougall of Horne Lake, B.C.; one sister Joyce Birkett of Moose Jaw; one brother Vaughan (Ellen) Brand of Olds; five grandchildren, Richard (Laura) Moore, Terrance (Danielle) Moore, Shannon McDougall, Tammy (Clay) Wilcox, Murray (Leah) McDougall; three great grandchildren, Thomas, Emma and Alice. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 19th at 2:00 PM from Smith Memorial Chapel. Mr. Kevin Moore officiating. Interment to follow at Brooks Cemetery. .DeValter, Valentino (Tino)
1933 ~ 2014
Tino DeValter, beloved husband of Margaret DeValter, passed away peacefully at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at the age of 80 years. Tino was born and raised in Medicine Hat and attended St. Louis School and St. Theresa’s Academy where he finished Grade 11. He married his life partner and companion in 1958, Margaret Ormiston and have celebrated 55 years of marriage. Tino was a hard working man and started his working career out of school beginning in the oil patch, Dominion Glass, Val Marshalls Printing and managed several food establishments before starting his own business in 1967, Tino’s Drive-In. Tino was a friend to all and never spoke a harsh word about anyone. He would help out with whatever the need was and never said “NO”. Tino was a member of the Elks Club, Moose Club, Legion and Shriners. He was a shareholder with the Lethbridge Hurricanes, MH Curling Club, the three Medicine Hat Golf Clubs, MH Rattlers Football Team and a Director with the MH Exhibition and Stampede organization. He cherished his 80th Birthday celebration this past August and spoke of it often. One of Tino’s greatest achievements and now his legacy was owning and operating Tino’s Drive-In with his wife and children. He will be forever remembered in the hearts of his beloved wife, Margaret; children, Terry, Tracy (Kathy) their son, Brayden and Crystal DeValter (Dwayne Bennett); his sister, Agnes Henderson and her family including his cousin, Atelia (Danny) Wilson and their children, Talania and Daniel as well as numerous other relatives. Tino was predeceased by his parents, three siblings in infancy and a brother-in-law, Ron Henderson. A Celebration of Tino’s life will be held in the Cypress Centre at the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede Grounds, 2055 – 21 Avenue S.E., Medicine Hat on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant Gerry Getz officiating. A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow immediately thereafter. 1915 – 2014
Ida Caroline (Lang) Treiber, beloved wife of the late Fred Treiber, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2014, at the age of 98 years. Ida leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Verna Schaurer and Vivian (Melvin) Haag; five grandchildren, Marlowe Schaurer, Murray (Leona) Schaurer, Maxine (Darrel) Shaw, Jacqueline (Fred) McNab, and Shauna (Graydon Gehm) Haag; three great grandchildren, Raymond (Brittany Leighanne), Marissa (Tim Pardy) and Brady; two great great grandchildren Kaya Bracket and Audrey Bracket; three sisters-in-law, Loraine Lang, Hertha Wagner and Pauline Schnidmiller and as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ida, the second daughter of Bernhard and Christina (Spitzer) Lang, was born on July 20, 1915 in Lehr, Logan County, North Dakota. In 1917 she came with her parents and seven older siblings to Burstall. She was raised in the Burstall area and attended Fairview School. On January 25, 1941, Ida married Fred Treiber from Schuler. They farmed in the Schuler district until Fred’s passing in September 1965. Ida moved to Medicine Hat and has lived there ever since. She took up house-cleaning, enjoyed baking and had a large garden, sharing her produce and baking with her family and neighbours. Ida loved having her grandchildren there for the summer taking them to VBS and swimming lessons. As the years passed along there came three great grandchildren followed by two great great granddaughters. Ida was predeceased by her parents, Bernhard and Christina (Spitzer) Lang; her husband, Fred; son-in-law Raymond Schauer; six brothers, John (Maggie), Fred (Mary), Phillip (Lydia), Adam (Tina), Jacob and Edwin; two sisters, Gertrude (Einar) Simensen and Pauline (Howard) Wallace. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME onFriday,from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – 12:55 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Julianna Wehrfritz-Hanson officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.
