.1933 ~ ANTONIUK ~ 2014
On February 11th, 2014, your loving wife, Violet “Vi” lost the love of her life, Don. She will always cherish the love they had for so many happy years. He also leaves to mourn his passing his two daughters, Cheryl (Robert) Lewis and their daughters, Carrie and Kristi, Laurie (Reg) Blaney and their daughters, Jillian and Paige; one brother, Stanley; two cousins and three nephews. Don was devoted to his family. He was extremely proud of his daughters and granddaughters and reveled in their career and personal accomplishments. He was happiest when his girls and their families came to visit; he would make them homemade bread and soup or grill his famous five-star steaks. In retirement, he loved to be surrounded by family; playing cards or mini-golf, shooting pool, going on picnics or family holidays. His granddaughters loved him for his quirky sense of humour and the character that he was. Don was a railroad man in his early career. His passion for trains continued in the form of a model village he constructed. He retired from Dom Glass as an instrument technician. Listening to music, dancing, playing guitar and mandolin, watching movies, building model cars and ships, and coaching the Redcliff Royals softball team were some of Don’s hobbies. He took pride in his home and garden; there was nothing he could not repair or renovate and he spent hours “tickling” his tomato and pepper plants and tending his pots of geraniums. Private services will be held at a later date. .ALEXANDER GRAF

December 30, 1993 ~ February 11, 2014

With sadness, the family of Alexander Jacob Graf announce his sudden passing on Tuesday, February, 11, 2014, at the age of 20 years. Alexander was born December 30, 1993, in Lethbridge, a son to proud parents, Roy and Annette Graf. Alex was at the young age of 2 when the family moved to Cadotte Lake, AB., to live on the Cree Reservation where his mom got her first teaching position. In 1997, they moved to Medicine Hat and later in 2009, the family settled into their dream home in Seven Persons. Alex received all of his schooling in Medicine Hat and graduated from McCoy High School in 2011. He also attended Medicine Hat College, having taken his first year of Welding in 2013, and currently enrolled for his second year. At the time of his passing, Alex was employed as a Welder’s helper, apprenticing with Last Chance Welding. There are so many things we can say about Alex… he was a great friend to many and always worked hard. His future was in the palm of his hands. Alex had many plans and he was sure to be successful. His personality was one of a kind. He could light up a room with his smile and laughter and with his “tell it like it is” attitude and distinctive “swagger”, Alex was loved by everyone who met him. He enjoyed the company of his family and friends and like many, he loved to crack open a nice cold beer and socialize. His big, booming voice could be heard from anywhere and often you would hear him saying, “Yes boy” or “Sure bud”. Alex was athletic and enjoyed sports of all kinds. He played Lacrosse for the local SunDevils for 6 years and achieved his black belt in Tae Kwon Do, doing so by training with his dad and brother. He also liked to go golfing – especially with his grandpa, his buddy and cousin, Mitchell and of course, his brother. Alex also enjoyed the outdoors and spent time fishing with Randy. He beamed with pride when he bought a brand new truck – a 2012 Dodge 3500 Cummins. Not only did he love his truck but so did his dog, Rosco and they loved going for rides together. Rides on the way home from work meant a phone call to Mom and Dad and they would always chat. Alex wasn’t short of conversation and according to his yearbook, his dad served him a 3 day in-school suspension for cell phone violation. Alex was larger than life and his impact on our lives will never be forgotten. He will live on in the many wonderful memories we all have of him. Alex will be deeply missed by his parents, Roy and Annette Graf; 15 year old brother, Daniel (they were best buds and worst siblings! Always there for each other – you mess with one, you deal with the other); grandparents, Carol and Alan Ogilvie and Ken and Eva Graf; great-grandma, Jeanie Ogilvie; Auntie Trisha (Mike) Rolls and their family, Jeremy and Logan; Auntie Renee (Kevin) Hirsch and their family Mitchell and Easton; Auntie Bonnie and Uncle Rod Graf and their family, Nathan, Rebecca and Rachel; Auntie Karen (Lorne) Dewart and their family, Amanda and Cole; Auntie Kim (Al) Wilbee and their family, Christina and Kameran; Uncle Robert (Carman) and their family, Chandler and Carley. He is also survived by special friends, Curtis Jenkins, Jimmy Martinez, Taylor “Taco” Phillips, Derrian Nau, Brandon Sloan, Xavier Gloin, Randy MacDonald, Andrea Morales and many, many more. Alex was predeceased by his great-grandpa, Jacob Lanz (1992), great-grandma “The Old Grandma”, Eva Lanz in 2005 and great-grandpa “By The Water”, Harry Ogilvie in 2005. A time of visitation will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat, on Friday, February 14, 2014, starting one hour prior to the Vigil Prayers at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be celebrated at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel on Saturday, February 15, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Father Fred Monk officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Glen passed away peacefully Tuesday at Lion’s Gate Hospital in Vancouver, B.C.
He is survived by his three children, Cindy (Bill Savage), Brian (Judy) and Lorne (Sherry) Newman, all of Calgary. He was also the proud grandfather of nine and great- grandfather of twenty. Glen is also survived by his sisters Corinne Burns (Vancouver) and Lorraine McNaughton (Calgary) and many special nieces and nephews.
Glen was predeceased by his wife Ila in 1974 and was married to Yvonne for 25 years. Glen lived most of his life in Medicine Hat and worked for the CPR for 47 years, retiring in 1985. He was very proud to have served in the army during the Second World War. He enjoyed many years of golfing, curling and gold panning and loved to tell his stories. We all admired his wonderful sense of humour.

Our Dad will be deeply missed by many and we will hold him in our hearts forever.

Ronald Erwin Peterson passed away peacefully on Friday, November 15, 2013, at the age of 83 years. Ron was predeceased by his wife, Mary Lou, a granddaughter, his brother Arnold, his sister Isabelle and his parents, Rose and Andrew Peterson. He is survived by his partner Colleen of Creston; his son, Jim (Julie) Peterson of Creston; four daughters, Brenda (Jack) Sproat of Medicine Hat, Cheryl (Stuart) Maddaford of Lethbridge; Karen (Grant) Babitzke of Cypress Hills and Lori (Ian) Pollock of Saskatoon; fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; his brother, Kenneth (Babes) and his sister Norma (Ron) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ron was born in Canwood, Saskatchewan on March 5, 1930. The Peterson family moved to Medicine Hat when he was young and on September 12, 1947 Ron married Mary Lou Braconnier in Medicine Hat where they resided for 43 years of marriage. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and had a life long career as a heavy duty mechanic. In 1991 after Mary Lou passed away, Ron moved to Creston where he resided for the past 22 years with his partner Colleen. He was blessed with an early retirement that allowed him to travel and for years was an official Canadian Snowbird making many trips to Yuma, Arizona. Ron loved dancing, camping, golfing and fishing. He was loved and respected by all who knew him and will greatly missed. A celebration of life will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. .THELMA E. RENNER
February 9, 1931 – February 12, 2014
Thelma E. Renner (Morris) was born on February 9, 1931 and passed away on February 12, 2014 at the age of 83. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 62 years George and their children Rob Renner (Gail), Patricia MacArthur (Jim) and Chuck Renner (Susan). She also leaves one grandchild Rachel Renner.
Born in Calgary, she moved to Medicine Hat as a young girl with her parents when her father became the Manager at the Medicine Hat Greenhouses. Thelma married George in 1951. She was an exceptional floral designer and for 44 years worked alongside George operating the Rosery Florist. Her life was busy and full; raising her family and participating in many clubs and organizations including Jaycettes, Kinettes, Four Seasons Saddle Club and Medicine Hat 4-H Light Horse Club.
An accomplished seamstress she found great joy in creating one-of-a-kind treasures for her family. She even sewed her own wedding dress. She loved to entertain and hosted many memorable parties. A fantastic cook, no detail was too small. Even ordinary things were made special by her extra ordinary touch.
Her happiest years were spent living on the farm where the family participated in a myriad of horse related activities. After retirement she and George enjoyed camping in Elkwater and exploring the country in their motorhome. Their travels included a memorable trip to Alaska as well as numerous trips into British Columbia, Saskatchewan and the lower United States.
Due to failing health, her final years were spent in the compassionate care of the staff at Riverview Care Centre in Medicine Hat.
