It is with great sadness we say that our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Ruth Flaig has left us for her final resting place in Heaven to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ on Saturday, January 18th, 2014 at the age of 87 years. Phyllis Kern of Medicine Hat, passed away on Monday, January 20th, 2014 at the age of 60 years. Phyllis leaves to cherish her memory her common-law husband, Earl Frey of Medicine Hat; her former spouse, Roland “Rolly” Kern of Medicine Hat; two sons, Dennis (Moria) Littlewood and Brent Littlewood; numerous grandchildren; one brother, Donny (Cindy); three sisters, Elsie (Al), Alice (Warrner) and Diane; and her beloved dog, Oakley. Phyllis was predeceased by two sons, Darren and Victor; one daughter, in infancy; her parents, Raymond and Geneva Hanson; and one brother-in-law, Lloyd. Phyllis was born in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan on May 28th, 1953 and resided in Medicine Hat. Funeral Services will take place at a later date. Gary Brost of Cypress County passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at the age of 68 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his brothers, Lance (Olive) Brost, Jim Brost and George (Corene) Brost and four sisters, Irene (Boyd) Sadler, Ruby (Marvin) Mock, Florence (Merle) Koenig and Shirley (Don) Elhart as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Ida and Edward Brost and one brother, Allan. Gary was raised and lived on the family farm south of Dunmore on the Tothill Road all his life. In his younger years, he helped our parents with their dairy cattle and some farming. When they retired, he chose to raise Charlais cattle and did that until his health declined around 2002. He then sold the land but continued living in the farm house until this past December 20th, when he became very ill and was hospitalized. Gary never wanted to move to the city, but most nice days he always made the trip into Medicine Hat to “walk the mall”, “go to the casino” and shop at Superstore for all the “bargains”. He loved going to sporting events if he knew the kids that were playing. He wasn’t great for going to family functions (too many people) but he loved talking to anyone he wanted to be with.
