Ruth Flaig, beloved wife of Fred Flaig of Medicine Hat, passed away on Saturday, January 18th, 2014 at the age of 87 years. Mrs. Esther Henton, beloved wife of Mr. Frank Henton of Kindersley, Saskatchewan, passed away on Monday, January 20th, 2014 at the age of 85 years. Esther also leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Larry (Margaret) Henton of Saskatoon, Darcy (Debbie Weismiller) Henton of Edmonton, and Mike (Barbara) Henton of Oshawa, Ontario; one daughter, Joanne (Gerry) Bosch of Kindersley; five grandchildren, David Henton, Jesse Henton, Shane Henton, Grant Bosch, and Trudy Bosch; two sisters-in-law, Lydia Migowsky and Reta Migowsky; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Esther was born on October 23rd, 1928 in Leader, Saskatchewan. At the age of four, she and her family moved to Maple Creek where she was raised, educated and married Frank Henton on October 29th, 1947. They farmed 8 miles east of Maple Creek until 1955 then moved to town to operate a grocery store. The store was sold to the Co-op and Frank began working for it. Esther started the Co-op Guild in Maple Creek. Frank’s employment with the Co-op saw the family living in a number of Saskatchewan towns including Lampman, Zenon Park, Tisdale, St. Gregor, and Alysham. In 1987, Esther retired from the Co-op in Alysham. In June of 1990, Frank and Esther moved to Medicine Hat to retire. Esther was the President of the CWL in Maple Creek for several years and served on the Diocesan Committee in Gravelbourg. Her hobbies included camping, baking and knitting. Esther was predeceased by her parents, Benjamin and Johanna Migowsky; one son, Jerome; one grandson, Jason Bosch; four siblings, Walter, Jack, Martha, and Tina. Esther will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at ST. LAWRENCE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 301 Walsh Street, Maple Creek, on Friday from 6:00 to 6:55 p.m. CST and on Saturday from 10:00 to 10:55 a.m. CST. Vigil Rites (prayers) will be said at ST. LAWRENCE CATHOLIC CHURCH on Friday, January 24th, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. CST. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated in ST. LAWRENCE CATHOLIC CHURCH on Saturday, January 25th, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. CST with Father Prince, celebrant. Interment will follow in the Family Plot at Maple Creek Cemetery. Mrs. Ruth Eva Reade of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Mr. Les Reade, passed away suddenly on Monday, January 20th, 2014 at the age of 80 years. Ruth leaves to cherish her memory four daughters, Raelene (John) Petersen, Pamela (Don) Nash, Marcie (Kevin) Wilkinson, and Shari Jordan (Bradley), all of Medicine Hat; eight grandchildren, Charlotte Mitchell (Kristian), Steven Mutchler (Michelle), Candice (Jeff) Kostiuk, Curtis (Laine) Nash, Derek Wilkinson, Ashlyn Wilkinson (Eric), Hayley Roberts, and Cory Roberts; four great- grandchildren, Reid and Zoey Mitchell, Sophie Nash, and Jesse Yanulik. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Les Reade, on February 15th, 2011; and her parents, Cecil and Iola Staples. Ruth loved to read, cross-stitch, and crochet. She also enjoyed watching curling and Blue Jays baseball, as well as camping with her husband. She especially loved her Timmy’s! 1938 ~ 2014
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Maurice Coté. Loving husband to Angela Coté and father to their daughter, Genna (Travis) Gaetz. He also leaves behind his five children, Rosalie (Steven) Ward, Craig (Angela), Maureen (Diego) Schafer, Michelle (Walter) Davidson, Carey (Katherine) as well as a step-son, Sheldon (Nona) Anderson. Maurice was a Grandpa to Ethan, Levi, Julian, Aurora, Gabriel, Cole, Josh, Bailey, Corbin, Brayden, Chanel and Mariah. He is survived by two brothers, Bob (Matilda) and Ernie (Helen); two sisters-in-law, Irene Coté and June Coté; brother-in-law, Tom McCann as well as many nieces and nephews. He was very close to Angie’s family and will be fondly remembered by all of them. Maurice was a Master Carpenter, and could transform a piece of lumber into a thing of beauty. He was a Journeyman Sheet Metal Mechanic and passed on his knowledge to those who had the privilege of working with him. He was a jack of all trades and was successful with most everything he tried. Maurice loved to go on hunting trips with his buddies and he loved to camp and pull out his guitar and sing around a campfire. He was a friend to all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Maurice will always be remembered for his strong presence, sense of humour, wisdom and the love that he felt for his family.
