.ALLAN
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Heather Jane Allan (nee Holt), beloved wife of Glen and loving mother of Jordyn and Chad Allan, all of Medicine Hat. She also leaves to cherish her memory her parents, Sherill and Mack Holt of Medicine Hat; her brother, Brad (Elizabeth) Holt of Calgary and her sister, Susan (Darren) McClelland of Saskatoon; Glen’s family: his parents, Phil and Sharon Allan of Calgary, sister Lori (Tim) of Regina, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, her large circle of many loving friends and her beloved dog, Mollie.

Heather was born in Edmonton and moved to Calgary with her family at a young age. She had a happy childhood filled with many camping trips, family travel and summers at Mara Lake. Heather met Glen, the love of her life, in grade 11 at Sir Winston Churchill High School in Calgary. They dated throughout university before they were married in 1988. Following their early career paths, they lived in Strathmore, Grande Prairie, Calgary, Wetaskiwin, and Camrose before finally settling in Medicine Hat.

Heather passionately loved teaching and made a lasting positive impact on many of her students. One of the hardest things about dealing with her cancer over the years was that she couldn’t be in the classroom with the children she so loved at Crestwood school.

Nothing made Heather happier than travelling, hosting family and friends at the cottage, golf and shopping trips with her girlfriends and her sister, and of course, every moment she spent with her beloved family. She was extremely proud of her children, and while it was hard watching them go off to university, she knew they were ready to make their own mark on the world.

Heather had a way of letting people know how much she cared about them, and that is how she was able to touch so many lives in her 48 years.

The funeral service will be held in Holy Family Parish (1451 Strachan Road SE) on Friday, December 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the “Heather Allan Memorial Project” at Crestwood School, 2300 – 19 Ave. SE, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 3X5. Contact the school at (403) 527-2257.
