RCMP in impaired driving investigation recognized suspect as one of their own

By The Canadian Press on June 11, 2018.

HIGH PRAIRIE, Alta. – An RCMP officer in northern Alberta has been charged in an impaired driving investigation.

RCMP say they were called to a convenience store in High Prairie last Friday where they were told a woman had driven to the store who may have been impaired by alcohol.

The complainant tried to get the woman to turn over her keys, but wasn’t successful.

Officers from the High Prairie RCMP recognized the woman and later charged her with impaired driving.

Police say Cpl. Anita Doktor has been suspended with pay and her duty status will be subject to ongoing reviews.

Doktor was also charged with impaired driving in December 2016, but has been cleared of that charge.
