Another Medicine Hat business is putting big money into sprucing up its location this spring.

Last week the front facade came off Murray Hyundai car dealership, sales offices were relocated to trailers on the lot, and a $1.8-million renovation of the showroom got underway.

It’s the latest in a string of construction projects getting underway as warmer weather arrives, and part of a growing total of investment in facilitates.

“It will be an absolutely beautiful building,” said general manager Michael Papps this week. “We’re business as usual out of the lot. The showroom and service waiting areas are shut down, but we’ve located out to trailers on the lot.

“There will be LED lighting and new concrete, but it’s business as usual in the back (shop).”

It was spurred by a brand makeover of Hyundai dealerships across Canada by the automotive makeover, said Papps.

The colour scheme is changing to bronze from blue, which led to the front fascia changing, new tile, new ceiling and accouterments inside, as well as new lighting and improvements on the lot.

“It’s pretty big for us,” said Papps. “It’s a full-out rebuild inside.”

The project is being managed by Concord Projects — a Winnipeg-firm contracted by Hyundai Canada — and is scheduled for completion in early October.

The modernization of the building on Trans-Canada Way comes after it had converted from a large dancehall and bar in 2009.
