Students, alumni and the community are invited to attend Medicine Hat College’s Job Fair on Feb. 28, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This annual event provides an opportunity for job seekers to talk one-on-one with potential employers for positions ranging from general help and summer jobs to internships and career opportunities.

“We have a variety of exhibitors including: oil and gas, trades, business and investment, health care, accounting, personal fitness and companies seeking general laborers,” said career adviser Shelly Drefs. “What we really want to emphasize is that all job seekers are welcome and that the opportunities are vast.”

Attendees are encouraged to come prepared for on-the-spot interviews.

“Be yourself, be prepared to sell your strengths, come dressed to impress and with a resume if possible. There are some employers who will be hiring on the day so be sure to capitalize on this opportunity,” says Drefs.

One tip the career adviser has for attendees is to engage with every exhibitor.

“One thing we encourage is for jobseekers to be open and be prepared to visit every booth. You never know what jobs might be available. Although health agencies may need nurses or paramedics they also could be looking for administrative support, so it’s always a good idea to inquire.”

For students looking for some tips on networking with employers, the Career Centre will be hosting a free session as part of the Student Success Workshop Series. Networking with employers will be on Feb. 15 at 10 a.m. in the library.

MHC is still accepting registrations from organizations interested in setting up a booth. For more information visit http://www.mhc.ab.ca/JobFair.
