UPDATE: Medicine Hat police say on Twitter the ATB in Crescent Heights has been cleared and is now safe for the public.

Insp. Joe West of the Medicine Hat Police Service is confirming that a bomb threat was received at the ATB Financial Northlands location at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

A subsequent search of the premises by police and staff revealed an, at this time, unidentified, “out of place” object at that location. The nature of which is being withheld for investigation purposes. The MHPS evacuated the build as a precaution and currently has its bomb disposal squad and robots on site to determine the nature and identity of the “out of place” object, and the branch remains closed for the time being. The area around the building has also been sealed off.

As a precaution the other two ATB Financial locations were also searched, and no threats were found. Those locations are now open for business as usual, says West.
