Update: Victim of semi-tractor trailer collision on TCH identified

UPDATE 2:

The investigation continues into the death of man hit by semi on Highway 1 Sunday evening and police ask anyone with info who has yet to speak with them to contact the traffic unit at 403-529-8471.

The victim has been identified as Frank Lucas Sinnema, 53, of Calgary.

UPDATE: Police concluded their investigation overnight and reopened the highway to regular traffic, but MHPS Traffic Services is still completing its portion of the investigation.

The name of the victim will not be released pending proper notification of next of kin, say police.

One person is dead after colliding with a semi-tractor trailer on the Trans-Canada Highway Sunday night.

The person hit was not in a vehicle according to Staff Sgt. Kelsey Fraser, and the collision took place around 9:20 p.m.

The collision took place on the in the west-bound lanes at the intersection of 6 St. SW.

The MHPS is asking the public to avoid these lanes for the next few hours to allow emergency crews to operate safely.
