Cypress-Medicine Hat MLA Drew Barnes is using Facebook today to stage a ‘Q and A town hall’ centred on the carbon tax, or Climate Leadership Plan.

Barnes will be live on Facebook from noon until 12:30. Anyone who follows ‘Drew Barnes for Wildrose’ on Facebook will get a push notification just before noon that he is ‘live’. At that point, constituents and all Albertans can comment on the post and ask their questions and have them answered in real time. A Barnes’ spokesperson said people also have the option of e-mailing questions prior to the event or tweeting the questions at @DrewBarnesMLA during the time of the event.

Barnes said the Facebook Q and A “is an opportunity for me to reach a large audience and hear feedback from my constituents on this matter.” He said his office has been “flooded” with questions and concerns about the carbon tax.

In addition, he said, this will be Barnes’ first town hall since his new appointment to the post of shadow minister of energy.
