With the election creeping up, Reimer says he has not made a choice on whether he will be running for mayor of Redcliff come October.
“As of today I have yet to make that decision,” he said. “There’s still a lot of things to factor in, and I’m just not there yet — I have gotten a good amount of encouragement to run again but I have not committed to either way.”
With roughly eight months until the municipal election, Mayor Ernie Reimer says it is not time for council to hit the cruise control.
“Although I am happy where the town is at, we still have some big things to finish up,” said Reimer. “The biggest-ticket item is probably the remediation for the groundwater; we have the big holding tanks scheduled to be coming in this year — there’s some exciting things coming.”
Another agenda item from Monday’s meeting was about the off-leash area for dogs in the local park. Coun. Chere Brown says after a number of complaints, she would like to see the town act.
“We’ve had some complaints about people not picking up after their dogs and things like that,” she said. “I think we should have a cleanup in maybe the spring and fall, where pet owners using it can come together and clean it a couple times of the year — that would alleviate some of the problems.”
Reimer says the town has put out an online survey to the public asking for feedback on the off-leash area.
“We’ve put out the survey and have gotten 151 filled out so far,” he said. “We do not know when we will have that finished — we will have to wait and see what the survey results say.”
