Transparency lacking at city hall

By Letter to the Editor on October 16, 2017.

Re: “Don’t hold your breath waiting for transit satisfaction, if Veiner situation is any indication,” Sept. 22

As always from the pen of Gillian Slade, an excellent, thought provoking editorial.

There is unquestionably a lack of transparency emanating from city hall with far too many decisions made behind closed doors. They number in the dozens and dozens. In 1797, an American journalist by the name of Callender wrote the following “The more a nation knows about the mode of conducting its business, the better chance has that business of being properly conducted.” The rationale that big brother knows best is abhorrent to any principles of democracy.
