More transit ridership should be the goal

By Letter to the Editor on September 1, 2017.

I think changing the transit system to save money is a fool’s mission. I do like the route A and B changes and the feeder routes, a little more logical. I think it would be nice to have a discounted bus system because then you would have full ridership.

I can not imagine that buses that are half-full actually bring in that much money. If you have more people riding the buses you have fewer people driving on the roads, and less wear and tear. I don’t know why running buses in the evenings and on Sundays is serving the public good. People who rely on agencies to survive through the month need to get to them and often cannot afford the bus. Then the free events that are nice to attend for everyone are hard to get to if they are in the evening or on Sundays.

I realize it is easy to criticize when you are trying to run a city. I know there is no money and there never is. I think with a transit system that we should be working on how to get the system working so that the most people are riding it and that those people are the most satisfied with it.
