Patron disappointed with how Stampede ended Saturday night

By Letter to the Editor on August 3, 2017.

This year the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede theme to celebrate Canada 150 was “Strong and Free.”

The Saturday night should have been renamed “The Weak and the Hog Tied.”

For an experience that would be so memorable for visitors here from the U.K. we had taken in every aspect of the Stampede every day and the big highlight was the Saturday night show and fireworks. The Band Perry were good, played for one hour, so come 9:30 p.m. they shut down all the concessions in the grandstand. We could not get anything to drink and we had to move seats as they were sweeping up the grandstand and and we waited until 10:45 for the fireworks. To add insult to injury they locked up the washrooms.

I had purchased 11 tickets for some $900 and rented the party limo for some $300 to ensure it would be memorable.

To say I was disappointed is an understatement.

Shame, shame, shame.
