This was my fifth year of volunteering for Walk a Mile in Her Shoes. I enjoy the energy of this event and this year was no exception. There were more walkers and we made more money than ever before. The money will go towards an important organization southeastern Alberta Sexual Abuse Resource Committee and we never have enough money for counselling.
At the walk there were men, women, children and men pushing strollers, and one young man was running in his high heeled shoes maybe he thought it was a race. It was a glorious stream of people standing up for the rights of individuals who have had their rights violated in the worst possible way. No wonder it is my favourite event of the year.
